How We Rate Online Casinos – Our Review Methodology

The exact process behind every score on this site, including the Wintino review.

By Daniel Harris Fact-checked by Laura Brennan Updated:

wintino.casino is an independent review site. We are not Wintino, we are not paid to publish a particular score, and we do not accept deposits or run player accounts. This page explains who writes our reviews, how we test a casino and how the final number is calculated, so you can judge our verdict for yourself. If you came here from the homepage, you can go straight back to our Wintino review.

Who is behind the reviews

Our reviews are written by a small editorial team led by Daniel Harris, who has spent eight years analysing online casinos for international players. Every review is checked by a second editor, Laura Brennan, before it goes live. Her job is simple: confirm each number on the page against our own screenshots, receipts and the operator’s published terms. If a figure cannot be verified, it is removed or clearly flagged.

How we test a casino

We treat every casino the way a new customer would, with one difference: we write everything down.

  1. Real account. We register with real personal details, just as you would, and note how long sign-up takes and which information is requested.
  2. Verification (KYC). We upload identity and address documents and record how long approval takes and whether the requests were reasonable.
  3. Deposit. We fund the account with our own money using at least two methods, usually a card and an e-wallet or crypto, and check fees, minimums and whether the bonus is credited as advertised.
  4. Play. We spend several sessions in the lobby: slots, live dealer tables and any sections the casino promotes. We check that game RTP information is shown and that the bonus wagering tracker behaves as described.
  5. Withdrawal. We request a cash-out and time it from the moment we click the button to the moment the money lands. This number carries more weight than any marketing claim.
  6. Support. We contact live chat and email with real questions, for example about a bonus rule or a pending withdrawal, and rate the speed and accuracy of the answers.
  7. Mobile. We repeat login, deposit and a short play session on an Android phone and an iPhone.

Scoring criteria and weights

Each area gets a score from 1 to 5. The final rating is the weighted average, rounded to one decimal place.

Criterion Weight What we look at
Payments and payout speed 25% Method choice, fees, limits, timed withdrawal, KYC friction
Bonuses and terms 20% Real value after wagering, max bet, game weighting, expiry, clarity of T&Cs
Security, licensing and responsible gambling 20% Licence shown and checkable, encryption, deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion
Games 20% Size and quality of the lobby, reputable studios, live dealer tables, RTP transparency
Support and mobile 15% Live chat speed and accuracy, email follow-up, mobile site or app experience

How the final score is calculated

Suppose a casino scores 4.5 for payments, 4.0 for bonuses, 4.5 for security, 5.0 for games and 4.5 for support. The calculation is (4.5 × 0.25) + (4.0 × 0.20) + (4.5 × 0.20) + (5.0 × 0.20) + (4.5 × 0.15), which gives about 4.5 out of 5. We apply two hard rules on top of the maths: a casino that fails to pay a legitimate withdrawal during our test cannot score above 2.0, and a casino without basic responsible gambling tools cannot score above 3.0, however good its games are.

How often reviews are updated

Casino offers change constantly. We re-check every review at least once every three months, and immediately when we notice a change to the welcome bonus, payment options or terms. Each review shows a published date, a last-updated date and a short update log so you can see exactly what changed and when.

Affiliate disclosure and editorial independence

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up through them, we may receive a commission from the operator. You never pay more because of it. Commercial relationships do not decide our scores: the rating is fixed by the editorial team using the method above, before and independently of any commercial discussion, and a casino cannot pay to change it or to remove criticism. When a casino gets worse, its score goes down.

Responsible gambling

Gambling is for adults aged 18 and over. It can be addictive and you can always lose money, so treat it as paid entertainment, not as a way to earn. Before playing, set a deposit limit and a time limit, and never chase losses. If gambling stops being fun, take a break or use the self-exclusion tools offered by the casino. Free and confidential help is available from BeGambleAware and GamCare, and from Gamblers Anonymous groups in many countries.

Corrections and feedback

We make mistakes too. If you notice outdated terms, a wrong payout time or anything else that looks incorrect, please let us know through the feedback channels of this site. We verify each report, correct the review where needed and record meaningful changes in the update log.
